The FAA said Monday it will require recreational drone operators to register their aircraft. The move comes amid a growing number of reported close calls and incidents that pose safety risks. The government says pilot sightings of drones have doubled since last year.

 

The top 2 presidential hopefuls may be getting Secret Service protection. The agency says billionaire businessman Donald Trump and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson have both requested the protection. But they wouldn't receive it until Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson consultes with Congress.

 

65,000 people have been forced from their homes in the Philippines as a slow-moving typhoon moved through the island nation. The storm blasted ashore Sunday, leaving at least 11 people dead.

 

And city council members in Fort Collins, Colorado will soon vote on whether to allow women to be topless in public. Supporters of the proposal say it would give women bodily autonomy. But many residents oppose the change.
