The prime ministers of South Korea and Japan have reached a deal meant to resolve a decades-long impasse over Korean women forced into Japanese military-run brothels, euphemistically known as comfort women during World War II. The deal, which includes an apology from Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe and an 8-million dollar aid fund from Tokyo, could reverse decades of animosity. Residents survey the destruction from deadly tornadoes in several towns across north Texas. At least 11 people died and dozens were injuried in the tornadoes that swept through the Dallas Area Saturday, causing substantial damage.
British prime minister David Cameron has sent hundreds more troops into northern England to help residents and emergency workers fight back rising river waters after weeks of heavy rain. The damage has spread to the major cities of York, Leeds and Manchester.
The Greefield Bridge in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvinia came tumbling down after a scheduled implosion. The bridge came down in a matter of seconds after 5 years of planning.
