The Australian share market has rallied after the Christmas break though many trades are still on holiday, so volumes were light. And there are just 1.5 days of trading left for 2015 by the close day. The All Ordinaries jumped 1.1 percent, the ASX 200 index added 1.2 percnt. Looking at the moves. Mining stocks did well in the market. Retailers performed well on the back of reports of strong Boxing Day sales, and Bigger surged over 13 percent.
Looking across the region and there are modest gains. Spot gold prices are pushing higher in the Asian section, crude oil prices fell in the US overnight. The Australian dollar is pushing up against the major currencies and worth 72.63 US cents.
The former mining billionaire E. Tinkla has revealed details of his plans to buy a multiple coal mine in the New South Wales' Hand Valley. Mr. Tinkla is the new chief execctive of Australian Pacific Coal, which is said to buy 83.3 percent stake in the dark brook project from Anglo American. Mr. Tinkla says the company family believes in the resiliant demand for higher ...low ash thermal coal. The mine was placed in care and maintenance in 2006. |
