U.S. and Iraqi troops raided a Sadr City neighborhood today targeting Shiite extremists. U.S. military says it arrested a suspect believed to be involved in smuggling bombs from Iran. Thousands of families have fled an embattled Palestinian refugee camp caught in a crossfire of a conflict between the Lebanese army and Islamic extremists. About 31,000 people live in the camp. The United Nations says at least 25,000 have fled since fighting started a week ago. Police in Russia detained 31 people during a gay rights demonstration. The demonstrators were trying to deliver a letter calling on Moscow's mayor to let the activists march through the city. The streets of the nation's capital filled with roaring sounds of thousands of motorcycles. The Rolling Thunder riders made their annual Memorial Day pilgrimage from the Pentagon to the National Mall and also met with President Bush. |
