1. Russian officials said they are looking for all possible causes for the crash of a military passenger plane in the black sea. 92 people died. The plane went down shortly after take-off from Sochi on its way to Syria. 

2. Pope Francis has wished Christmas peace to people scarred by wars and those lost love ones to terrorism that he says is sowing "fear and death" in many cities and countries. Francis cited those suffering through Syrian war, especially during the "most awful battles" in Aleppo. 

3. A bad cold kept Queen Elizabeth from attending the traditional Christmas mourning church service near her Sandringham estate. That raises some concerns about her health. It is extremely rare for the 90-year old to miss the service. 

4. And the chilly dipped for these Londoners, braving cold waters for a Christmas swim in the London's Hyde Park.
