Nick: Hi everybody, this is Nick. Welcome to teaching series "how do you say this in American English." Nick.

Brad
So Brad, have you ever encountered a type of people who never make decisions by themselves?
Brad: Yeah I know what you are talking about. You are talking about mama's boys or daddy's girls, depending who you are talking to. Yeah definitely. A mama's boy, for instance. I was hanging out one the other night. We were having a good time at some bars. And we were getting kinda loud. He said, "no, I don't think my mom would like that."
  Nick: I don't think it's normal
Brad: I mean, it's fine though. You are saying about your mom. Moms are great. But to the point where she's a hundred miles away and she still governing what you can do. That's a mama's boy.
  Nick: This is ridiculous
Brad: Yeah he's not independent himself at all. Even some girls are independent themselves.
Nick: That person you talked about. He relies heavily on his mother.
  Brad: Yeah Without a doubt.
Nick: This is not always good. listening to your parents like all the time.
Brad: Yeah I mean it's good to have respects for them
  Nick: Absolutely
Brad: But when it gets to the point where it's interfering with your ability to be independent. That's mama's boy.
Nick: So you always say "mama's boy" instead of "mom's boy" or "mother's boy" or whatever.
Brad: Yeah I mean I know what you are talking about if you say "mom's boy", but the expression is mama's boy.
Nick: Nobody's gonna say the other ways.
Brad: Maybe, there's always gonna be some dude out there saying it. But the majority of us are saying mama's boy.
Nick: Ok. Thank you. So this is pretty it for this time. I'll see you guys next time, bye
  Brad: 再见
