Wildfires barreled across the baking landscape of the Western U.S and Canada, destroying a smattering of homes, forcing thousands to flee and temporarily trapping children and counselors at a California campground. 2. Iraqi troops drove Islamic state group militants from some of their last strongholds in Mosul on Sunday after a nearly 9-month campaign. But heavy fighting by holdouts continues in parts of the city's neighborhood. 3. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson accepted award at the World Petroleum Congress which was hosted by Turkey this year. The former Exxonmobil chief expressed his gratitude and said he misses colleagues, partners and competitors in the oil industry. 4. Polish police say a large bomb left over from World War II has been removed safely from the eastern town where it was recently unearthed.
