This is AP news minute. 1. Syrian state media says shells have hit the Russian embassy in Damascus, causing material damage. Syrian rebels in the suburbs of the capital have previously struck the embassy. 2. French president Emmanuel Macron appealed to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu for renewed Israeli and Palestinian peace talks to create two independent states. Netanyahu responded the two countries "Shared the same desire for peaceful Middle East". 3. Israel reopened a Jerusalem holy site for worshipers after shutting it down, following a deadly assault that sparked concerns. New security measures were implemented at the entry to the compound , known to the Muslims as the noble sanctuary and to Jews as the temple mount. 4. Iraqi police paraded through Baghdad for the second day in a row, after the government declared it recaptured Mosul from the Islamic State group.
