This is AP News Minute. O.J. Simpson has been granted parole. He served 9 years in prison in Nevada for a botched bid to retrieve sports memorabilia. The former football and TV star will be released in October. Attorney General Jeff Sessions says he will remain in the office. His remarks come a day after President Donald Trump rebuked him for accusing himself from the probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign. The White House on Thursday said Trump has confidence in the Attorney General. Senator John McCain’s colleagues on Capitol Hill are rallying for his recovery. Senator Lindsey Graham says McCain is in good spirits and ready to come back. McCain has been absent from the Senate after undergoing surgery and being diagnosed with a brain tumor. Russian President Vladimir Putin made a rare visit to an iconic human rights activist. On her 90th birthday, Putin thanked the dissident.
