This is AP news minute. 1. The U.S military will keep permitting its transgender members to serve openly for now. Defense secretary Jim Mattis said Thursday military is waiting for formal direction from president Donald Trump before implementing the plan. Trump tweeted Wednesday that "Transgender individuals would not be allowed to serve in the arm forces in any capacity". 2. Ohio governor John Kasich declared that this year's Ohio state fair wouldn't be defined by last night's accident on a carnival ride. One person was killed, seven were injured last night when a section of the fireball ride collapsed. Officials say the ride passed an inspection that same day. 3. In Missouri, heavy rains across the Kansas city area led to numerous water rescues. A TV crew captured this woman being rescued from her flooded car. The national weather service forecasts at least 4 to 7 inches of rain fell in just few hours. 4. And in Florida, an up-close look at the police wrangling an alligator. Body camera video shows the officer helping capture it from someone's yard. When it resisted, the cop climbed on top and secured the gator's mouse. The gator was later released back into the wild.
