At least 18 people were killed and over 50 others injured in a stampede in Mumbai in the early hours of Saturday.

A senior police official says the incident happened near the residence of a Muslim spiritual leader in posh Malabar area of the financial capital,

where hundreds of people converged from across the country and abroad to pay their last respects to him.

While 18 people died on the spot,

those injured have been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of some are said to be serious.

Twenty one people, including 13 foreigners, were killed in Friday's terror attack at the Lebanese Restaurant in Afghan capital Kabul.

The UN mission office in Kabul said that

four UN staff members, including International Monetary Fund (IMF) country representative, were among those killed in the bloody incident.

UN secretary-general Ban ki-moon has condemned in the strongest terms the horrific attack.

The Taliban insurgent group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack,

saying in a statement the suicide bombers targeted foreign occupiers.
