China hs renewed its call for all parties to avoid acts that could intensify conflicts in Ukraine.

Speaking in the wake of China's abstention over the UN General Assembly resolution on the Ukraine crisis, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said, "China upholds fairness and objectiveness on the Ukraine issue."

He said all parties should avoid antagonism and complicating the situation and make efforts to create a favorable environment for a political solution.

"China proposes to set up an international coordinating mechanism composed of relevant parties to discuss ideas and ways for the issue's political solution."

He said it is imperative to ease tension, narrow differences through talks, seek consensus, and push forward the political solution.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei has harshly slammed an analogy drawn by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe between their territorial disputes and the situation in Crimea.

Hong Lei said Shinzo Abe hypocritically pledged to improve China-Japan relations while speaking ill of China in the international community, referring to Abe raising the two countries' territorial disputes during a discussion on Crimea at the G7 meeting in the Hague earlier this week.

The spokesman said Abe's words again exposed his intention to confuse the public and defame China. However, this cannot deceive the international community.

Hong Lei accused Japan of "illegally stealing" China's Diaoyu Islands and "breaking the status quo of shelving disputes."
