Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has met with British Prime Minister David Cameron as part of his current visit to London. The two sides have set a goal of expanding bilateral trade to 100 billion U.S. dollars by next year. Li Keqiang has also used the meeting to call for more cooperation in areas such as nuclear power, high-speed rail, infrastructure construction and urbanization. For his part, British Prime Minister David Cameron says his country can act as a facilitator to help China gain a stronger foot-hold in Europe. The China National Offshore Oil Corporation has announced its entered into a 20-year deal with British Petrolium for liquefied natural gas supplies. CNOOC says BP is going to begin supplying it with up to 1.5 million tones of liquefied natural gas per year starting in 2019. The signing of the agreement has been overseen by visiting Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and British Prime Minister David Cameron. At the same time, CNOOC and Shell have also signed a "global strategic cooperation agreement" meant to try to create a tighter partnership around the world. |
