The Chinese government is pledging some 2 billion yuan worth of assistance in the rebuilding of Afghanistan.

The commitment has been made during a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Afghan counterpart Ashraf Ghani here in Beijing.

The Chinese side is also promising to help train 3-thousand professionals over the next 5-years to develop Afghanistan's agriculture, hydroelectric and infrastructure sectors.

Both Ghani and Xi Jinping have also overseen the signing of a number of agreements connected to economic cooperation and humanitarian aid.

Xu Caihou, the former vice chair of China's Central Military Commission, has reportedly confessed to taking bribes.

He's already been expelled from the Communist Party of China and discharged from the military.

Xu Caihou is accused of abuse of power and accepting bribes.

The exact amount of bribes hasn't been made clear.

However, authorities say the figures are "extremely huge".

Xu Caihou himself is currently battling bladder cancer.

A new rule has been put in-place, obligating Chinese government officials to pledge their allegiance to this country's Constitution before they're allowed to take office.

Chinese President Xi Jinping says the move is to help bolster the authority of the Constitution, which he says should be the "basic law" governing the country.

In making the pledge, those who act against the Constitution will be held accountable for their actions.

At the same time, all regulatory documents from the government that run counter to the Constitution must be rectified or nullified.

The decision also sets December 4th as China's Constitution Day.
