Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is urging auditing authorities to be more strict when overseeing the use of public funds, and safeguard the interests of the public.

He says audit authorities must wield their power righteously and they should not allow public funds to remain idle on the books, nor should they turn the other cheek to corruption.

When meeting with prominent auditing personnel from across the country, the Chinese premier also urged auditors to keep an eye out for violations and the misuse of public funds.

China's top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng has met with Vietnamese officials in Hanoi and vowed to promote bilateral ties.

Yu is in Hanoi for a three-day visit to enhance mutual trust and build consensus.

He called on both sides to implement the consensus reached between their leaders regarding maritime issues, and properly settle their differences.
