Authorities in Shanghai have identified most of the victims in the deadly New Year's Eve stampede, as investigation into the cause of the tragedy continues.

The number of injured has risen to 49, 13 of them are being in serious condition.

Among the 36 people being killed, most are in their 20s and the youngest victim is a 12-year-old boy.

Police admit they did not have a strong presence in the area where the stampede happened, as no formal new year's events had been planned in that area.

A blast has reportedly occurred in a factory in Tangshan, north China's Hebei province.

Fire and leakage of yellow gas were also witnessed at the scene, as media outlets report.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Indonesian-led search teams are continuing to retrieve the bodies of passengers onboard the downed AirAsia plane.

So far at least 22 bodies have been recovered off the coast of Kalimantan as well as plane debris and belongings of passengers.

Meanwhile more ships have arrived with sensitive equipment to hunt for the fuselage of Flight 8501.

But bad weather was again hindering the hunt for the plane's black box flight recorders.

Officials said earlier it may take up to a week to find the information recorder.

Strong wind and heavy seas have stopped divers from looking for the fuselage of the Airbus A320-200, which went down on Sunday en route from Indonesia's second-biggest city Surabaya to Singapore with 162 people on board.
