2018年CRI BRICS countries strengthen children theatres' exchanges in Beijing(在线收听

Twelve children's dramas from the BRICS countries will be staged in Beijing during the ongoing China Children's Theater Festival, which is scheduled to run until late August.

This is the first series of activities since the launch of a union of teen and children's theatres among Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa in July last year.

Aha, a drama from South Africa, is among many to be unveiled soon.

Seth S. Mompei, an official with the South African embassy in China, spoke at the China National Theatre for Children.

"We also intend to encourage and facilitate the exchange of cooperation between the culture and arts delegation of the two countries. It is our determination of South Africa to encourage and promote the mutual establishment of cultural centers in all BRICS countries."

The China National Theatre for Children is about to stage a children's play adapted from an old fable called "The Snipe Clam Grapple".

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and South Africa. Also, South Africa is hosting the 2018 BRICS summit in Johannesburg this year.
