If you’re interested in cars, this is where you want to be. It’s not a big garage or a dealer’s showroom. It’s the underground Petersen Automotive Museum vault.

如果你对汽车感兴趣，你一定想到此一游。这里不是大型车库，也不是经销商的陈列室。这里是彼得森汽车博物馆的地下室。

Here are hundreds of the world’s most iconic vehicles, cars, trucks and motorcycles representing over one hundred and twenty years of automotive history. Like any other museum, we cannot possibly display all the artifacts we own. We own over three hundred cars. We have been more than another hundred alone to us. So we have quite a treasure trove, but we wanted people to be able to see those too. So the museum has begun offering guided tours for visitors who want to learn more about global car culture.

这里多的是世界上最有标志性的车辆，有汽车、卡车、摩托车，它们承载了120多年来的汽车发展史。跟其他博物馆一样，我们无法展示所有车，毕竟我们有300辆车。此外，还有100多辆车属于我们馆。所以，我们有很多的宝贝车，但我们希望大家也能欣赏到这些车。所以，我馆开始为访客提供指引参观，访客都是想要对全球汽车文化了解更多的人。

The cars in the vault come from around the world. And from the beginnings of the auto industry, there’s the 1900 classic that Bob Hope had built for John Wayne, the very first Cadillac made in 1903 and a 1925 five Rolls-Royce phantom one which set the benchmark for luxury cars. The vault also holds political history, with three vehicles from presidential motorcades.

地下室里的车来自世界各地。有汽车业发展之初的车型，有鲍勃 霍普(Bob Hope)为约翰 韦恩(John Wayne)1900年建造的经典车型，有1903年建造的第一辆卡迪拉克，也有豪华车始祖，即1925年劳斯莱斯的幻影一号。这个地下室里还蕴藏着政治史，有3个车型曾隶属于总统车队。

Movie fans will recognize the car driven by the arch foe of Bond, James Bond in Die Another Day and Black Beauty, the Green Hornet’s weapons Laden Chrysler Imperial Crown. And although Volkswagen just announced it will end production of the classic VW Beetle next year, it lives on in the Herbie The Love Bug movies. Shayan Bokie of Petrolicious, a digital automotive lifestyle brand says the vault is like a time machine. Where else are you gonna find a Formula One car low-rider and the Shah of Iran’s Bugatti in one place. So if you wanted to see these cars at an event, it would take lifetime to get them.

Also seeing all in one place is definitely a must-see, if you’re even remotely interested in cars. The tour gives car lovers a chance to enjoy the evolution of the industry, the art and its history.
