Trump has condemned the packages as an attack on US democracy, but in a tweet he also blamed the mainstream media for what he called the anger we see today. Trump has been criticized himself for using offensive language that many say encourage violence. There’s a difference between aggressive hard-fought issues and the language around that and trying to incite people to violence.

特朗普谴责这些包裹是对美国民主的攻击，但在一则推文中，他还谴责了主流媒体，语气十分愤怒，跟我们现在能看到的一样。一直以来，特朗普都因言语冒犯而备受诟病，有人认为他的语言方式鼓励了暴力事件的出现。在热议的问题上言语尖锐与试图煽动公众采取暴力手段是有区别的。

Trump’s press secretary Sarah Sanders on Thursday insisted the media are unfair to Trump. Yesterday, the very first thing that the president did was come out and condemn the violence. The very first thing your network did was come out and accused the president of being responsible for it. That is not okay. The suspicious packages intercepted so far have all looked similar, and contained similar homemade devices. Many of them would address to individuals in the New York City area. This is clearly an effort to terrorize people politically, to choose people for political purposes and attack them because of their beliefs.
