John: Today we're going to learn about the word – chuck, c-h-u-c-k, chuck. Helen: So what does it mean? 这个表达是什么意思呢? John: Chuck is an informal expression. Helen: 是一个通俗表达, an informal expression. John: It means to throw something over, or throw something out carelessly. Helen: Carelessly, 很随便的, 这个chuck 的意思是很随便的把东西扔到一边儿去。 John: That's right. Let's hear some examples. Examples: A: Sid, you're making a right mess on the dinning table, if you don't tidy it up by this evening, I'm going to chuck all your stuff out. B: God! The CD player is broken again. It's just so annoying. C: You should just chuck it, CD players are so cheap now, you can pick a new one up for ten pounds. B: Yeah, you're right. This one is going in the bin. Helen: 看来chuck 的确是一个非常通俗的表达,听起来我也觉得非常随便。 John: That's right, it's a very casual expression and you hear people saying it all the time.
