President Trump has repeatedly called for the end of the probe that he calls a witch-hunt.

Following the midterm elections, he promptly fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who had recused himself from the probe,replacing him with Matthew Whitaker, a Justice Department official who had criticized the investigation in the past.

Supporters say, Whitaker is well qualified for the position, and that ultimately,it is the president’s right to choose the head of the Justice Department.However, Republican senators also urged Trump Sunday to make his decision soon.

In a tweet Sunday, he lashed out angrily at California lawmaker Adam Schiff,misspelling his name to offend him for noting that Whitaker is not approved by the Senate.

So far, the probe has led to indictments of several of trumps close campaign aides,but has not produced any evidence of Trump’s collusion with Russia.
