One of Michael Vick's attorneys left the Virginia courtroom today, saying his client has a decision to make. The former NFL quarterback did not appear in the Surry County courtroom where a judge scheduled an April trial date on state felony dogfighting charges. He's already in another county trial, awaiting sentencing on federal dogfighting charges. Previously his attorneys said that they would fight the state charges on grounds that a person can not be convicted twice of the same charge.

Michael is considering all of this. I can't tell you we are fighting, I can't tell you we are accepting a plea deal. Michael is, my first day down. We're going to look at this matter and giving some legal advice that has not been decided yet.

Protestors with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals stood outside the courthouse holding signs, urging people to report dogfighters. Vick pleaded guilty to the federal charges and is scheduled to be sentenced December 10th. He could face five years in prison.
