The 2018 budget blueprint makes deep cuts at the Environmental Protection Agency and the State Department, and it eliminates government funding for programs like “Meals on Wheels”, as well as for independent agencies such as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney:

(Mulvaney) “We’re spending more money to defend the country, more money to enforce the laws, more money to secure the borders, more money to secure our vets.”

The savings from the cuts will be poured into a massive $54 billion increase in defense spending. Republican John McCain, who chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee, says the increase is not enough to rebuild the military.
