The prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has denied his government has a problem with receiving criticism after the resignation of the Solicitor General Justin Gleeson. Mr Gleeson announced yesterday he was quitting after a public stoush with the Attorney General George Brandis. Legal figures and the federal opposition have criticised senator Brandis' treatment of Mr Gleeson.

Police are looking for at least three people after a man was shot-dead in Sydney's south-west this morning. 29-year-old Hamad Assad was shot multiple times as he left his home and died at the scene. Police say it was a targeting shooting and that the victim is known to them.
