Investigations are continuing into why a man exploded a van full of gas cylinders outside the Australian Christian Lobby headquarters in Canberra. Federal justice minister Michael Keenan says a motive for the attack is still unclear but the head of the ACL, Lyle Shelton, remains unconvinced it was a random act.

Coalition frontbenchers have brushed off threats from rebel backbenchers who have warned they may abandon the government if it doesn't embrace conservative principles. The threats have come from Queensland backbencher George Christensen and South Australian senator Cory Bernardi but the justice minister Michael Keenan has played down the prospect of defections.

Authorities across Europe are searching for a Tunisian man who's the main suspect behind the truck attack on a Berlin Christmas market which killed 12 people. 24 year old Anis Amri has been named as the man being sought by authorities. His identity papers were found in the truck used in the attack.

And police searching for former NRL player Chad Robinson have found a body in Sydney's north west. Officers are yet to make a formal identification but believe it's a 36 year old man who disappeared from his Kellyville home in November.
