There might be a glimmer of bipartisanship emerging on Bill Shorten's call for longer terms in federal parliament. The opposition leader said he wants both major parties to embrace four year fixed terms instead of the three year terms we have now. The prime minister later called Mr Shorten to discuss the matter, indicating he might be open to the idea.
