The federal government says dual-citizen MP Susan Lamb should quit parliament, and not waste the High Court's time. The Coalition is calling on the Labor member for the Queensland seat of Longman to resign, after her lawyers admitted she's still a British dual citizen. The Opposition says she took all reasonable steps to renounce her UK citizenship and is in the clear.

Former Victorian premier, Jeff Kennett, has backed assertions by lawyers for Melbourne's former Lord Mayor that Robert Doyle has been denied natural justice. Mr Doyle resigned last night after an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment made by two former councillors. The outcome of that investigation has not yet been made public and Mr Doyle has strongly rejected the claims.

The Australian share market has plunged today, losing almost 30 billion dollars. It follows a huge sell-off on Wall Street on Friday night. It's the worst day for the ASX in more than six months, since last year's Brexit referendum in the UK. Every sector finished lower, with mining, energy and financials being the biggest drag on the market.
