Prime minister Malcolm Turnbull says Australia backs the UK's retaliation against Russia and is considering its own response, over the use of a chemical weapon on a former Russian spy. Britain has expelled 23 diplomats, after a Russian developed nerve agent was used in the attempted murder of Sergei Skripal.

Thousands of students in the United States are calling for tougher gun laws and staged walkout from classroom to protest across the nation. The demonstration is being lead by survivors of the deadly shooting rampage at a Florida school exactly one month ago. The walk-out lasted for 17 minutes in memory of the 17 people killed.

Mortgage brokers are in the spotlight, at the Financial Services Royal Commission. The Commonwealth Bank's executive general manager for home buying, Daniel Huggins is facing intense questioning on the stand. He admits there's a conflict of interest in the commission structure for brokers which could lead to some customers taking out loans which are unsuitable for them.
