The federal government is yet to convince the senate crossbench t?o support its company tax cuts. The coalition wants to push its plan through the senate, in the final sitting week before the winter break. It remains four votes short to get its policy through the upper house.

The hearing is expected to be told stories of farm foreclosures and fire sales. Case studies from the CBA, Bankwest, Rabobank, NAB, Adelaide Bank and ANZ's landmark are listed during the fourth round.

Turkey's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed victory in twin parliamentary and presidential elections. The results show Mr Erdogan with more than half of the vote, ahead of main rival Muharrem Ince. About 90 per cent of the votes have been counted, but opposition groups insist it's still too early for Mr Erdogan to claim victory.

New South Wales has clinched the State of Origin series against Queensland for the first time since 2014. The Blues celebrated their second series win in thirteen years after a gutsy four point win over the Maroons at Sydney's Olympic Park. The series heads to Brisbane next month for the third and final match.
