The prime minister has suggested there may be scope to change the Liberal party's pre-selection processes after the next election. The Liberals have been criticised for the low number of women in its parliamentary ranks. It comes after one of the party's most senior women, minister Kelly O'Dwyer announced she won't contest the next election so that she can spend more time with her family.

The US president refused to budge on his signature border wall policy, proposing almost 8-billion dollars in funding for the steel barrier.
