President Xi Jinping has encouraged people to learn from the spirit of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea.

The Chinese president made the remarks while attending an exhibition in Beijing marking the 70th anniversary of the Korean War.

He says the sacrifice of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army contributed to world peace and the cause of human progress.

He describes the spirit forged during the war as "precious spiritual wealth" that will inspire the Chinese people to overcome all difficulties and obstacles.

China has reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue.

The statement comes after the termination of travel restrictions and arms embargos on Iran as part of a UN Security Council resolution.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian says China will work to ensure the smooth implementation of the Iranian nuclear deal and Security Council Resolution 2231.

"China is willing to work with all parties to continue to maintain the follow-up smooth implementation of the JCPOA and the Security Council Resolution 2231, promote the resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue by political and diplomatic means, and maintain the international non-proliferation regime and peace and stability in the Middle East.

He also says China will also continue to properly handle military affairs in accordance with its own military export policies and international obligations.

Data from Johns Hopkins University shows that the number of COVID-19 cases has surpassed 40 million globally.

The number of victims who have been killed by the virus is more than 1.1 million.

The United States has suffered the most from the pandemic with over eight million cases and more than 220-thousand deaths.

Countries with over one million cases also include India, Brazil and Russia.

The World Health Organization Director-General says over 180 countries and economies have joined COVAX, an international initiative to ensure effective and equitable global access to COVID-19 vaccines.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says a fair distribution of vaccines to both developed and developing countries is of great significance.

So far, nearly 200 COVID-19 vaccines are being developed worldwide, with 44 of them in clinical trials.

A European Union official says the bloc and Britain have held constructive talks on implementing the Withdrawal Agreement on Brexit.

European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic made the remarks following his meeting with Michael Gove, co-chair of the EU-UK Joint Committee under the withdrawal deal.

"So what we concluded this morning was that we are going to - I would say - redouble our efforts and work for the solution. So we will have much higher frequency on debating outstanding issues linked with the (Northern Ireland) protocol, and with all the issues which the protocol is covering, and all other outstanding decisions which have to be adopted before the end of the year."

He adds that they can find solutions in the framework of the Joint Committee if they put their minds to it.

Earlier EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier said he had confirmed that the bloc remains available to intensify talks with London based on legal texts following a phone talk with his British counterpart David Frost.

Britain withdrew from the EU on January 31st, and entered a transition period which lasts until the end of the year.

Tesla has announced that it will export the made-in-China Model 3 to Europe.

The first batch of exported sedans will leave Shanghai Tuesday next week and arrive in Belgium at the end of November.

The cars will be sold in European countries including Germany, France, Italy, and Switzerland.

A NASA spacecraft circling an asteroid 200 million miles away is about to reach out and make contact.

The spacecraft will attempt to descend to the boulder-packed surface of the Bennu asteroid today and snatch a handful of rubble.

It will be America's first crack at collecting asteroid samples for return to Earth, a feat accomplished so far only by Japan.
