reach,达到。可做动词，但下面第一个例子用做名词。

作名词时reach表示一个人手`能力`智力等的可及范围。
Put these things beyond children's reach.把这些东西放在孩子够不着的地方。
beyond one's reach相当于out of one's reach.
be within one's reach,在某人伸手能够拿到的范围内。 The switch is within my reach.那开关是在我伸手就能触及的地方。

reach for,伸手去拿...

We both reached for the apple on the table at the same time.我们同时伸手去拿台上的那个苹果。
又例如书架上有本书，需要伸手去拿。这时可说

I am reaching for the book.我正伸手去拿那本书。

reach也指到达。

When did you reach Zhongshan？你什么时候到达中山？
