1.President Barack Obama says he's committed to the survival of the US auto industry, but that the administration "cannot continue to excuse poor decisions." Obama has rejected the restructuring plans from GM and Chrysler and given the automakers one to two months to prove they can make it.

2.Californian police are calling it a "family on family, murder suicide." Six people were shot to death in Santa Clara and police say they're trying to figure out why it happened. At least three of the dead were children.

3.Police in Carthage, North Carolina say a single shot from a police officer was able to halt a murderer's rampage in a North Carolina nursing home yesterday. But that came after a gunman killed seven residents and a nurse. They still don't know where and why the 45-year-old suspect had opened fire.

4.The Red River is drawing back, but now flood-threatened Fargo, North Dakota has a new enemy--wind. A snowstorm headed for the city is expected to roil the overfilled river, testing the levees built to protect the city from a major flood.
