[00:03.06]Life Struggle生命的拼搏
[00:06.53] Once upon a time in a land far far away,
[00:10.06] there was a wonderful old man who loved everything.
[00:14.08] Animals, spiders, insects...
[00:17.50]One day while walking through the woods
[00:20.28]the nice old man found a cocoon of a butterfly.
[00:23.67] He took it home.
[00:25.42]A few days later, a small opening appeared;
[00:29.15]he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours
[00:32.97]as it struggled to force its body through that little hole.
[00:37.67]Then it seemed to stop making any progress.
[00:41.42]It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could
[00:45.00] and it could go no farther.
[00:47.54]Then the man decided to help the butterfly,
[00:50.38] so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon.
[00:55.97]The butterfly then emerged easily.
[00:58.70]But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.
[01:03.34] The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that,
[01:08.00]at any moment,
[01:09.23]the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body,
[01:13.28]which would contract in time.
[01:15.24] Neither happened!
[01:17.01]In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life
[01:20.41]crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings.
[01:24.00]It never was able to fly.
[01:26.72]What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand
[01:30.77]was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly
[01:35.34]to get through the tiny opening
[01:37.33] were Nature’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings
[01:42.92]so that it would be ready for flight
[01:45.15]once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
[01:48.48]Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life.
[01:52.64] If we were allowed to go through our life without any obstacles,
[01:56.91]it would cripple us.
[01:58.40]We would not be as strong as what we could have been.
[02:01.50] And we could never fly.
