1.Firefighters have made progress against the big wildfire burning north of Los Angeles. But officials say they still have a long way to go. Officials say the blaze is more than 20% contained, but it has destroyed more than 60 homes.

2.Most businesses have been closing down on Mexico's Baja California peninsula ahead of Hurricane Jimena. Thousands evacuated the peninsula's vacation resorts as intense winds and heavy rains batter at the coastline.

3.Days after a deadly attack at a Georgia mobile home, police have identified the eight victims as members of a large extended family. Authorities won't say how the victims died. So far no one has been named the suspect in the case.

4.President Obama hosted a dinner celebrating Ramadan at the White House Tuesday evening. Guests included cabinet secretaries, members of Congress, ambassadors from Islamic nations and Muslim community leaders.
