Hello everyone, I'm Catherine Callaway at the CNN center in Atlanta, with a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS. It has been months in the making, and it could reshape the future of your medical care. House Democrats unveiling their long-awaited health care reform bill. And it includes a public or government option, but not the one that liberals were hoping for. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says it will mean coverage for more Americans. It reduces the deficit, meets President Obama's call to keep the cost under nine hundred billion dollars over ten years and it insures thirty six million more Americans, thirty six million more Americans. Five people have been arrested in the gang rape of a fifteen-year-old California girl. Three of them are juveniles. Police looking for as many as five more suspects in the case. Officials say they also want to talk to several people who watched the alleged assault but failed to intervene or alert police. The bodies of eighteen Americans killed in Afghanistan are back home in the US. President Obama was at Dover Air Force Base when those coffins arrived early this morning. It's the first time a president has witnessed the transfer of remains since the Afghanistan war began. And those are the headlines this hour. Stay with CNN for more on these stories and other news of the day. |
