19. Wills

W: You’re late.

M: Yes, I’m really sorry. I had to wait ages for a bus.

W: Why didn’t you drive?

M: Ah, well, I’ve sold my car.

W: Oh, are you getting a new one?

M: No, I’m not getting another car. I’ve decided to live without one.

W: Wow, what made you do that?

M: I think there’re too many cars, and this town is far too polluted.

W: Well, that’s true. But car is useful.

M: I don’t think so. Not in the city center anywhere. I can never find anywhere to park and spend most of time sitting in the traffic jam.

W: But how can you get to work?

M: By bicycle.

W: Don’t you think bicycle is dangerous?

M: Not really. I don’t think there is as dangerous as cars.

W: Well, I couldn’t do without my car. I have to take the children to school everyday.

M: I don’t think children get enough exercises these days. They should walk to school.

W: Well, I haven’t got children, but I agree with Joe. I couldn’t live without my car. I sometimes have to come home late from the office.

M: Why don’t get the bus. Public transport is very good.

W: That’s not true. The buses are not very regular where I work. But anyway, I was a woman. I don’t feel safe waiting for a bus late at night.

M: Ok, I see what you mean. But don’t you worry about pollution?

W: Of course. But you don’t understand. It’s easy for you to worry about the environment. I have to worry about hurrying, shopping and children …

M: Ok, ok. You’re right. Come on. Let’s go to another drink. Hey, what do you think about my new haircut?
