[1] A not guilty plea on behalf of the Nigerian man charged with trying to blow up a Detroit-bound plane. Basic six charges, the most severe carrying a life sentence for attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.

[2] The unemployment rate stays stuck at 10% with job losses 10 times greater than expected. The labor secretary says businesses may be reluctant to make hires, waiting to see what steps the government takes to provide relief.

[3] Icy conditions and bitterly cold temperatures grip much of the South, dipping as far as the Texas-Mexico border. Ice set people in Atlanta watching where they drove and walking with care.

[4] Two skydivers take a leap off the world's tallest building in the United Arab Emirates, setting a new world record for the highest ever base jump from a manmade structure at 2020 feet.
