[1] Former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin rallied with thousands of tea party activists for Nevada Senator Harry Reid. Palin told her fellow conservatives that Reid will have to explain his votes on health care and other issues in his tough battle for reelection. 

[2] A Wisconsin man who's been convicted of cooking his ex-girlfriend's dog in an oven will spend the next six years in prison for animal cruelty. Prosecutors say he left the dog cooked at 350 degrees and he left the department to spend time with friends.

Victims' families say the ship may have been in disrepair and are accusing government officials of a cover-up. Searchers are scouring the waters for more than 40 missing marines. 

[4] Millions of people worldwide turned off lights and appliances for an hour on Saturday to celebrate the fourth annual Earth Hour. The gesture highlights environmental concerns and calls for a binding pact to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
