1. President Barack Obama gets a first-hand look at the 8-year-old war he inherited and ramped up. During a surprise visit to Afghanistan, Obama applauded US troops and Afghanistan's campaign against insurgents, but told Afghan leaders they need to do more to rein in corruption.
2. The Pope opened Holy Week amid serious allegations, involving pedophile priests. He made no direct reference to the scandal. But one of the prayers, recited during Palm Sunday Mass, was for the young and for those charged with educating them and protecting them.
3. Engineers and mechanics lowered a crane on Sunday after it tilted and hit a 25-story building near Wall Street. The strike showered debris to the ground, rerouted traffic and caused evacuations. No injuries reported.
4. Anthony Coffman claims he was on a mission from God when he ran down the aisles of a grocery store, ripping open packages of beef and tossing them to the floor. The 28-year-old vegetarian is undergoing a mental evaluation.
