对于许多喜欢摇滚乐的中国歌迷来说，the Strokes的知名度远不如Linkin Park，商业上更是如此，因为这是一支独立摇滚乐队，他们的工作更多的是做音乐而并非为了卖唱片，乐队的目标也不是追求能够拥有更多的歌迷欢迎或者受到主流文化的赞许。但是这支乐队却为日益颓废、肮脏、盲目的摇滚乐开拓了新的道路，他们对美国摇滚乐产生了强大的推动力，以至于有美国媒体称赞是the Strokes拯救了摇滚乐。
