The May Day break gave people a rest from work, but also an opportunity to revel¹ in some live music at the annual Strawberry Music Festival in Beijing. With eight stages and hundreds of acts, Strawberry had something for everyone, ranging from old-school rock bands to hipster favorites.

As one of the biggest and best in the game, the Strawberry Music Festival brings China's best indie, punk, metal and electro talents to the big stage.

Also descending² on the festival were big hits from abroad, including American post-rock group Explosions in The Sky, and Blue Foundation from Denmark.

These artists spread across eight roughly genre-delineated stages at the music event. Timed neatly³ with the three-day national holiday, they attracted more than 100,000 visitors.

Strawberry Music Festival was started in 2009 by local label Modern Sky, and has grown in popularity⁴ year after year. The festival also was held in Shanghai during the May Day break.
