CCTV9英语新闻：33 candidates in the running for Benin's president

 Benin went to the polls on Sunday to choose a successor to President Thomas Boni Yayi, who has served for two terms. Of the thirty-three candidates on the ballot paper, Prime Minister Lionel Zinsou is seen as the favorite.

 

He has promised to restructure the economy, create more jobs, and improve access to micro-credit. The other leading candidates include businessmen Patrice Talon who pledges to reform the education system, and Sebastien Ajavon who will look to reduce youth unemployment. 

 

If no candidate wins an outright majority in the first round, the top two will progress to a run-off vote within 15 days.
