The United States is lifting some of its sanctions on Myanmar, in a show of support for the country's political reforms. Restrictions have been removed for 10 state-owned companies and banks. It's also been made easier for Americans to live and work in Myanmar.
Washington said the revised sanctions are an incentive for Myanmar to continue its program of reforms. The US also says it plans to retain the bulk of its sanctions against the country. But some changes will be made to boost investment and trade between the two nations.
