At least 11 people have been killed in Saint Petersburg, Russia, after a bomb ripped through a subway station in the nation's second largest city.
The blast has left another 45 people injured, while local residents have been quick to set up an improvised memorial near the metro station, filling it with flowers and candles. Russia's Investigative Committee says it is approaching the incident and probing for "an act of terror".
According to Interfax, authorities have already established the identity of the suspected suicide bomber, who is said to have ties to radical Islamists. The suspect was a 23-year-old from central Asia who had carried an explosive device into the St Petersburg metro in a rucksack.
Remains of a suicide bomber have been found at the scene of the blast, but final conclusions will be made after DNA tests are conducted.
