Chinese police come down hard on economic crime

 BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Police have busted¹ more than 130,000 cases of economic crime and dealt with 60,000-plus suspects since a crackdown on economic crime began three months ago.

A total of 180,000 cases involving some 23 billion yuan (3.6 billion U.S. dollars) have been filed for investigation² during the campaign, said Liu Jinguo, vice³ minister of public security, at a Tuesday meeting.

Police across the country have been working together to crack down on commercial bribery⁴, contract fraud, pyramid schemes and counterfeiting⁵, Liu said.

"Public security departments at all levels should encourage coordination⁶ between police forces while keeping close contact with administrative⁷ departments in order to boost efficiency regarding case transfers and investigations," Liu said.
