RIO DE JANEIRO, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff met on Friday with representatives of 24 students associations and social movements as part of her strategy to answer to demands at the nationwide protests over the past two weeks.
The President, who listened to the groups' demands and complaints, pledged to create channels to dialogue with the youth in social networks, the President's office said.
The government aims at discussing matters such as education, urban transport and healthcare with young people from all over the country, in a more open manner.
The new tool, to be called "Participative Observatory1", will be launched on July 8, but the details of the initiative have yet to be disclosed.
Education Minister Aloizio Mercadante and Presidency2 Secretary- General Gilberto Carvalho took part in the meeting on Friday.
The protests, which took off earlier this month over public transport fare hikes in Sao Paulo, developed into a mass, nationwide movement, expressing public anger over a range of issues including government corruption3, poor education and health care.
