HAVANA, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Cuba and Germany are willing to explore joint¹ business opportunities in the energy sector², said officials from both countries on Wednesday.

　　At a seminar on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources held in Havana, Director of International Relations of Cuba's Chamber³ of Commerce Celia Labora invited German businessmen to invest in Cuba's Mariel Special Development Zone, located 50 km west of Havana.

　　The seminar seeks to identify bilateral⁴ collaboration⁵ opportunities especially on ecological⁶ energy sources, said Labora.

　　Johannes Hauser, manager of the German Regional Chamber, asked his fellows to take advantage of the seminar to find out energy cooperation approaches among firms of both countries, while praising Cuba's interest in developing renewable energy sources.

　　The German government supports its firms interested in holding negotiations⁷ with Cuba in several fields including energy, said Wolfgang Stopper, representative of Germany's Federal Ministry⁸ of Economics and Technology.
