Chinese premier1 arrives in Kenya for visit
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has arrived in Nairobi for a visit to Kenya, the last leg of his first Africa visit since he took office in 2013.
Li Keqiang said he expects to deeply exchange views with Kenyan leaders on bilateral2 relations and issues of common concern, so as to push forward the China-Kenya comprehensive cooperative partnership3 based on mutual4 trust and mutual benefit.
The Chinese premier will also meet officials from the United Nations Environment Program and the United Nations Human Settlements Program, and discuss with them China's cooperation with the two UN agencies during his stay in Kenya.
Before Kenya, Li Keqiang visited Ethiopia, Nigeria and Angola.
Putin arrives in Sevastopol for Victory Day event
Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken part in a ceremony marking Victory Day in the Crimean port city of Sevastapol.
Speaking at the event, Putin has congratulated the city, saying 2014 will mark a new beginning for the city.
This is Putin's first visit to Crimea since the former Ukranian region voted to join the Russian Federation5 earlier this year.
Ukrainian authorities have responded, calling Putin's visit to Crimea an "escalation6."

U.S. honors Chinese railroad workers
U.S. Department of Labor18 (DOL) on Friday hosted a public ceremony to mark inducting of 12,000 Chinese railroad workers, who worked between 1865 to 1869 in the country, into the agency's Hall of Honor.
Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez said at the ceremony the Chinese railroad workers accounted for 85 percent of the labor force on the Central Pacific Railroad, the largest workforce19 in the United States at the time.
He praised the Chinese workers by saying their work was crucial to the completion of the nation's first transcontinental railroad in 1869.
Xi urges continuing efforts to improve work sytle

Two people have been killed and another four injured in an explosion in a coal mine in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
The local government says the blast took place Friday afternoon at Xintie mine in Qitaihe City. Eighty miners were working underground at the time.

China's police chief urges security focus at key venues23
China's Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun has urged deployment24 of as many police officers as possible to key public venues at crucial times to deter25 crime.
He made the remarks during an inspection26 in central China's Hunan Province over the past four days.
While inspecting Changsha Railway Station, business plazas27 and other crowded public places, Guo Shengkun called on police departments at all levels to step up security and deter criminals.
