Hundreds of people turned up at Sydney airport last night to farewell Islamic cleric Sheikh Mansour Leghaei who lost his fight against deportation4. The Sheikh was ordered to return to Iran because he was declared a security risk. He's lived in Australia for 16 years and says his deportation is unjustified. ASIO (Australian Security Intelligence Organisation) has refused to say why he is a risk. Dr Leghaei left with his wife and daughter; his three sons will remain in the country.
New South Wales Police are investigating the suspected double murder of two men in Newcastle overnight. They are looking for the driver of a white utility seen in the area at the time. The police say two men, aged5 22 and 30, were found dead outside a home in Mayfield, just after six o'clock last night. Both had gunshot wounds.
